…In a 1798 built half-timbered house within walking distance of Schwerin Castle, theater, museum, open-air stage, market or cathedral. Lake Schwerin is almost around the corner.
Since the house was rebuilt after a fire in the penultimate century on the border road from the Schwerin Schelfstadt to Werdervorstadt, it housed in the ground floor rooms a fish shop, which was initially privately, but then led by the trading organization (HO) of the GDR.
It was not until 1990 that the “Ice Café Bar” Karina was built here after extensive reconstruction work. Over the years and with the transfer of ownership of the house to the Zielke family, the rooms of the café and the rest of the house have been further rebuilt and modernized, creating the Café Karina, as many guests have come to know in recent years.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the opening on 15 September, the café was rebuilt again.
Today, the café boasts a breakfast lounge and a wide assortment of café specialties and breakfast items, which not only locals but also guests of our state capital have come to appreciate. In the in-house bakery there are various bread rolls and other baked goods fresh from the oven for breakfast in our café or at home.
Since 1997 Café Karina has been hosting a guest house with 5 small and fine rooms at fair prices.
